Chris Gayle Break Record
April 24,2018
Before 5 Year Ago,
On April 23, 2013, Gayle, who was then an integral part of the Royal Challenegrs Bangalore, smashed an unbeaten 175 after getting to his hundred off only 30 balls. Overall, he faced 66 balls and smashed 13 boundaries and 17 sixes in the innings against Pune Warriors.
Riding on his record-shattering knock, RCB posted 263/5 off their 20 overs. That still remains a record in the IPL.
In Rashid's first over, Gayle hammered him for two sixes. The Afghan leg-spinner fought back to snare KL Rahul but his third over went for 27 runs - as many as 26 came from Gayle's blade as the Jamaican hammered four successive sixes to leave Rashid dazed.
No batsman has scored as many IPL hundreds as Gayle. His former teammate and RCB captain Virat Kohli is second in the list with four centuries. Nobody has hit more sixes than Gayle in the IPL's history. No other batsman has scored 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
On Monday, exactly five years since his record-shattering knock, Gayle had to sit out of KXIP's match against Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla.
The news was shared by Punjab skipper R Ashwin at the toss. Ashwin said Gayle would miss the match as "he's a bit sore."

David Miller has come into the Punjab side as Gayle's replacement while Aaron Finch will open the innings with KL Rahul against Delhi.
Last year, Gayle broke his own record for most sixes (during the onslaught against Pune Warriors) when he smashed 18 sixes on his way to an unbeaten 146 off 69 balls for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League final. His knock also took him past 11,000 runs in the shortest format of the game and made him the first player to score 20 centuries in T20 cricket.
